Holy Week

The above picture is from a very old fan that Pharmacies used to give to customers quite a few years back before, we as a culture, felt we had to be Politically Correct. To offer something like this to a customer today just may offend them. How did we allow this to happen? How did we as a nation decide it was correct to remove God from our life, but yet when we are faced with a tragedy--what is the first thing we do? We desperately search for Him and pray and ask for forgiveness and His protection because we are just mere men and women. The picture to the right is another old fan--just beautiful.
This is Holy Week. I intend on being at Church on Wednesday, Thursday, Good Friday and on Saturday to become part of the Catholic Church. This week will be busy and it will allow all of us to reflect on Jesus, His teachings and His Passion.

The picture above is a plate my sister, Betsy gave me one year for my birthday. It is the Blessed Mother--A mother all women can relate to and as women we should admire her for being obedient to God. She was with her Son until the end---she had to endure the pain of watching her Son being arrested, beaten and crucified for our sins. She was there when Jesus performed His first miracle--at the wedding--changing water to wine. Mary said to the servants: "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it". Her words should also ring true to us today. She is the Mother of us all.

My sister Betsy, again, made this beautiful picture of the Cross and she gave it to me for Christmas in December. I have a lot of other items I want to share with you--gifts I have received from my friends. I will share them with you in future posts. Keep your eyes on the Cross and God Bless. Happy Easter.

Lenten Season

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. The Lenten season lasts for six weeks before Easter and this is a time of remembering Christ's suffering and death.  Traditionally we are taught to give up something during Lent but now many Christians add something. This could be in the form of being more prayerful, giving to others or working on your own personal way to be closer to Jesus. Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving are traditional Lenten practices. Lent is a time to reflect on how our words and deeds affect our relationship with others and God.
There are many activities during Lent at the Church I attend. Tonight we attended Mass and received ashes on our forehead in a sign of the Cross. Every Friday we have a soup supper, Mass and Stations of the Cross. This is a "story" of Christ's Passion. During  Holy Week we have Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.
I enjoy so much this time of year. Spring begins and all things are made anew.

Snow, Soap and Jewelry

We have had a very snowy winter this year. I love the snow and I try not to act excited when it snows because most everyone I know, is very tired of it now. I just love how quiet it is when it snows and the trees are so beautiful. Also, being snowed in has given me time to make earrings and necklaces. This is just one of my hobbies. I just started making necklaces last year. A friend of mine started this hobby the same time I did so we have enjoyed exchanging stories on our newest projects. Also, I have made soap and I have a "valentine soap" to share with you. I hope you enjoy my pictures. And I would like to send a thank you to my sister-Betsy-for helping me set up my blog.

I call him Lost

Yesterday, after work, I drove over to the shopping center across the street. Something brown and furry caught my eye. Not to mention BIG. I had to pull over to see what it was. There is a man made lake in the shopping center which Mallard ducks just love. Certainly not a place for what I was about to behold: A beaver!! This poor little animal was using his God given "saw teeth" to try and make his way through the iron fence. The sound was horrendous!! I had to stop and take a few pictures of him. He really was adorable and very friendly. He wasn' the least bit afraid of me, of course, I am not stupid enough to try and befriend him.

VIR

In first place

On Saturday, My Husband and I went to VIR to meet our son at the Go-Kart Track. VIR is located very close to the North Carolina State line. We actually left Virginia and crossed into  North Carolina  and crossed back over the Virginia State line to get to the racetrack. It was rather strange. My son and his friend stayed at the racetrack for 3 hours riding go-karts and that still wasn't long enough for them. They had a great time and the scenery around the racetrack was quite pretty. Lots of rolling hills. Here are a few pics.

My Very First Post

It is a beautiful day today --in the 50's. But still have snow on the ground from the big snowfall from December 18th. Here are a few pictures of the family out in the snow. It was really a beautiful first snow.
